Axle Precision Components
Publishing what engineers actually search for
A precision components manufacturer had a brochure website and no idea which marketing produced orders. Technical depth and RFQ automation changed both.

The challenge
Where things stood
The website had six pages, most about company history, and ranked for nothing an engineer would type. Quote requests landed in a shared inbox and took an average of 2.3 days to answer, by which point competitors had often responded. With capital purchase cycles running six to nine months, nobody could connect any marketing activity to a resulting order.
The strategy
What we decided to do
Publish the technical detail engineers search for
Automate RFQ acknowledgement and routing
Track the full journey from first research visit to closed order
Target part numbers, materials and standards in search
Execution
How it was built
Technical content programme
Working from interviews with the engineering team, we published material guides, tolerance tables, application notes and finishing comparisons — all reviewed internally before going live.
RFQ automation
A structured quote form capturing material, tolerance, quantity and timeline, with instant acknowledgement, routing to the right engineer and escalation if unanswered after four hours.
Long-cycle attribution
First-touch source captured and carried through the CRM to closed order, finally making it possible to see which content preceded real business.
Specification-level search
SEO targeting part numbers, materials and standards, with narrow paid search on urgent procurement terms only.
Results
What it produced
Qualified RFQs grew 86% within three quarters, almost entirely from organic technical content. Response time fell from 2.3 days to under four hours with routing automated. Attribution revealed that 58% of closed orders had begun with a visit to a technical guide months earlier — content the business had previously considered a nice-to-have.

Our engineers thought publishing tolerance data was giving away the shop. It turned out to be the only thing our customers were searching for.
